My Career vision
What I see myself being involved in is the promotion of a company in their marketing department. I want to either work for Pepsi or to work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I want to be an influence for good around that world. I want to travel around the world in helping the companies that I would work for to be heard and better promoted around the world. I can see myself being the man that people look up to in having help be provided to them from my abilities as a senior member of a company’s board. This is really what my career vision is that I would promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people throughout the world. I feel as though that this is the direction that I am to take to become the man that I know that my God would want me to take. Know things about a business and law and economics and marketing I feel will help me to become a very valuable asset to the Church and to any company that I will be working for. I know that anything that I put my mind to that I am able to accomplish it and that I know that this is something that will become that my children and family will be proud of and that others may see my success and ethics and would try to become better themselves wither in their families or in their work. Know that this is the key to being able to influence other people by getting into the line light I know that I will have to have the correct knowledge and the correct ethics and also getting their in the right time will be exactly that is needed for the world and for myself. Seeing others become successful in their jobs and careers is something that pushes me to being better myself and that is part of the vision that I have is to not only become successful to show to the world that just because you are rich does not mean that you are evil. I think of Bill Gates as a perfect example of the way you should pursue a career and how you should then treat others and yourself when you have limitless amounts of money. Thanks Bill for showing us the true character of what every business person should be.

The Three Most Substantial Accomplishments
The first accomplishment that does come to mind is that I served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I served my mission in the California San Fernando Mission for two years. What an enjoyable and uplifting and growing time in my life. I started my mission when I was about to turn 20 years old and was given the opportunity to learn some Spanish for my mission. I touched the lives of thousands of people on my mission. I served with two mission presidents at different times on my mission. They have helped me become who I am today. The lessons that I have learned about obedience, courage, diligence, and love have taught me so many times and in so many ways what it means to be a representative of my Savior, Jesus Christ. When I returned to my home in Oklahoma my mother asked me a peculiar question that seems to be noticed by her and her question was, “Where is my son?” She did ask me this because she saw the change that occurred in me. I changed from the boy that she sent away and became the young man that she now has today. Giving up two years of my life to be a missionary for my church might be considered by some so to by a sacrifice but I see it as one of the greatest accomplishments that I have ever done in my life.
Another accomplishment that I would say is in my top three throughout my life would be in setting a good example towards other people around me. Having grown up where religion is at the heart of most people I found myself always being an example for my faith in whatever circumstance that I was in. At school everyone knew that I was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or a Mormon and many of my friends respected me for what I believed. I did live a higher law or live higher standards than most of my peers. Most of my friends parted, had sex, did drugs or had gotten drunk on the weekends at least one point in their lives but I never participated in those things that other people thought were fun. Sure I was made fun of at times but never did that make me consider in lowering my standards. When I got my first job people could see that there was something different about me and right off at the start when my coworkers went out to smoke I would stay inside. When other people would use profane language I would not. People took notice of my high moral standards. I would always tell people of why I would not smoke or of why I have never tasted beer or any alcoholic beverage. People started to change how they acted when they were around me by smoking less or by not making such rude comments as before. I am grateful for the chance that I had in making a difference in other people lives by just being me.
Another accomplishment would be that I lost over 50 lbs from diet and exercise. This took some time to do in fact it took me just about nine months to accomplish this accomplishment. One evening after a heavy meal of lasagna and veggies and desert I went to the restroom and stood on the scale it read 226 lbs. That was a lot of weight and most of it was fat. I decided then that I would start dieting and eating better and exercising more to reach a weight that I thought would be healthy. I started looking at how much I eat and when I eat. I would sometimes have a large lunch with a large dinner in which I would have seconds even thirds of and then later in the evening have a snack before going to bed. I took drastic measures of eating salads or premeasured meals for lunch and then only one serving at dinner with no deserts and for a snack before bed would be a piece of fruit to satisfy my hunger. I kept track of how much fruit I ate and how many calories that I was eating each day to the point in which I starting to lose weight by just monitoring what I ate and being self-conscious of what I ate. I wanted to lose the weight but I did not want it off right away. I knew that I should not lose the weight right away because the faster you lose the weight the quicker that it would return there for I set myself on an exercise plan that would be where I would exercise a little bit more calories than the amount of calories that I was eating. All I will say is that it worked and though I am not able to keep up with the exercise plan that I was working out to I did reach the healthy weight that I wanted to be at 175 lbs.

My Internship Plan
I am planning on taking my first Internship in between my first and second semesters during my sophomore year that would be the time in which I will do my internship. I plan on looking while I am off track this year of which company I would want to do my internship with. I am already looking to do my internship with large companies such as Pepsi Cola, Nike and Wal-Mart just to name a few. My last mission president worked for Pepsi Cola as a CFO and he still has a few connections that he would be able to help me to get an internship with them.
My internship will be quite helpful not only to me but also towards the companies that I will be working with. I hope that while I am working for these companies I will be able to introduce new ideas and to be able to promote these companies in such a way that they will benefit substantially. I plan on working my hardest for the companies that I will be working with in by so doing I hope that they will be able to see my worth and will either provide me with a job or in which by word of mouth they will recommend me to other companies or even better I hope that my job skills and work ethics will be recognized by bigger and better companies that will want to hire me on as one of their employees.
I plan on, if I may, to do two internships so that I will have my feet further out into the deep in. I see that the more experience that I have in the career that I plan for will help be so beneficial to me that it would almost seem ridiculous to me to not do two internships. I would like my second internship to be with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in working with the Brethren in promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that marketing skills are needed to be able to promote any cause that you want to promote. Just remember of the slogans and saying used to promote WWII and how effective they were in having people to sign up or to give up something that was asked of them just by something in the media that was produced to have people to follow their cause. I hope that I will be able to produce such an impact for the companies that I will be working for.

The Career Workshop
At the Career Workshop I learned a lot about how to do an interview with someone and to be able to present myself in a 30 second time frame. I learned that I do not have to be even a little afraid of talking to people and to be able to present a presentation in front of strangers. We also learned how to make an interview like unto a conversation and not like an interrogation or just a statement of facts and figures about yourself. My instructor taught us how to quickly find our most significant and powerful qualities that we have and how to expound and explore and promote those qualities that we found in ourselves. We used one of our classmates as an example of how we could do this and what we did we chose a woman who was a mother of four children. We then were asked to describe her according to our knowledge of what a mother was to ourselves. Things were said such as humble, patient, kind, selfless and servant and many other great qualities that we did see in her as a mother.
Another thing in which we learned about was the three I’s. The I’s are I am, I have, I can in which will help us have ownership on the statements that we would say about our talent. For me I chose to say, “I am confident, I have many talents and skills, I can work hard.” These are just a few examples that I did use for this part of our learning in showing ownership and pride in our talents and skills.
We were instructed on how to show our future employers on our abilities of making the best of everything for we were asked to write one of our weaknesses and to then ask our fellow classmates of what we could do better or how to overcome this weakness of ours. I chose a weakness that I have of organization/clutter in my apartment. What we discussed was that I could set a time during the week or day to decide to clean up my apartment in reducing the stress and time that it would take to clean up a large mess other than just taking a little bit of my time in cleaning up my room.
We were taught to show gratitude towards those that take their time out in letting us have an interview with them by sending out thank you notes to those that were so compassionate in allowing us the interview for the job.

Dear Hiring Manager:
Caring for the customers, consumers and the world we live in is among my own initiative in working for PepsiCo. By working with other people on creative, diverse and strategic ideas towards a goal I see will generate the results that will greatly enhance the value of PepsiCo. The products of PepsiCo will be the world’s best foods and beverages of the 21st Century. I am excited and thrilled to apply for the Assistant Brand Manager Internship (19664).
As you can see in my résumé, I have worked a lot with other people. Each time I work with someone I automatically am able to find the joy and energy that comes from working together as a team. Working as a team but being a leader in the team work and not being afraid of doing so is something that I have acquired from my vocational and volunteer work.
My love for working on a team produces the results that go above and beyond the required goals or quotas for my team and I. When may we set up a time where my leadership and teamwork skills can match up to and fit in your companies’ needs and desires? I look forward to hearing back from you in relation to the Internship.
Sincerely,
Reuben Decker
